About VoIP

What is VoIP?
Voice-over-Internet protocol (VoIP) is a protocol optimized for the transmission of voice through the Internet or other packet-switched networks. VoIP allows users to use regular telephone networks anywhere through any internet service provider and avoids issues on long-distance charges that are normally subject to callers. This latter concept is also referred to as IP telephony, Internet telephony, voice over broadband, broadband telephony, and broadband phone.

What do I need to use this VoIP service?
You need an internet connection, VoIP telephone or VoIP adapter or IP PBX with analog telephone or a computer with speakers and a microphone if you’re using a softphone.

What should I do to use this VoIP service?
Register a free account here and get a SIP username and SIP password. Configure your SIP device (Softphone/Phone adaptor) and ready to make free calls to other subscribers or call to any other landline/mobile numbers at cheap rates.

Technical

How many incoming lines can A420 support? Do all the lines run as network cable?
The A420 can support up to 4 PSTN lines. All PSTN lines will be connected to A420 IP PBX via the telephone cable (RJ 11 connector), while all IP-phones will be communicating with A420 via a local network with a network cable (RJ45 connector).

Where can I get the TA box (VoIP Adapter)?

Is it possible to configure my SIP device to call via VoIP?
Yes. You may use other SIP devices as long as your SIP configuration is correct. Refer here for the SIP configuration.

Can I subscribe to a postpaid plan?
Yes, you can subscribe to a Postpaid plan. Please contact us for more details.

Do I need to configure my firewall to make calls?
Yes. To make VoIP calls, your firewall setting should always allow port 5060 and UDP port in the range of 10000-20000.

How to setup my SIP equipment?
Username: Your SIP
Username Password: Your SIP password
SIP/Proxy registrar: sip2.alienvoip.com
Domain/Realm (optional): sip2.alienvoip.com
STUN server (optional) : stun1.alienvoip.com
Our system is compatible with all standard SIP equipment. If you have problems setting up the service, please consult the instruction manual of your hardware/software.

Which codecs do you support?
We currently support G.723, G.729, GSM and iLBC codecs.

Do you support H.323?
No, we don’t support H.323.

Can you forward local Malaysian calls to our designated VoIP number in North America?
Yes, you can forward your call to more than 200 countries worldwide.

Account, Rates & Payment

What is the calling rate to other countries with AlienVoIP?
You may always find the latest call rate on our website. Rates are subject to change without prior notice.

What is the minimum reload amount?
We require a minimum reload of RM30 with 1 year validity. Reload again to keep your account active. You can purchase AlienVoIP credits here.

How long is the duration will my credit last before expired?
Your credit will expire after 1 year from your last reload for prepaid members, you are not able to make any outgoing calls.

What is the monthly charge for TA box?
Free for prepaid members. However, you’ll have to reload your credits to keep your account active.

How can I reload my credits?
You can reload AlienVoIP credit by online fund transfer, credit card, bank transfer, or PayPal. Reload Pin will be delivered to you within TWO (2) business days. Find out more about our prepaid plan and payment method.

Can I check my recent call details?
Yes. You can log in to the member platform to check your call records, call rate, etc.

I encountered Error codes. What do they mean?
Find out more about what is the meaning of error codes. If this error persists, please contact our support team.

What is the monthly DID rental price in Singapore?
We are charging SGD25 per month for each Singapore DID. Minimum subscription is 6 months and advance payment is needed.
